Asian News Canada Ayub Khawar honoured by Urdu Manzil
Sabiha Saba welcoming Ayub Khawar in Dubai
DUBAI – A number of poets, writ ers and Urdu lovers gathered in United Arab Emirates (UAE) to honour Ayub Khawar, a poet of high calibre and an award-winning TV producer/director.The event entitled – Jashn-e Ayub Khawar, was organized in Dubai by a husband/wife team of Saghier Ahmed Jafri and Sabiha Saba who both are known Urdu writers and poets. Some of the honored guests were from Australia,Pakistan,USA,India Bangladesh and UAE.The well-attended literary function was presided over by famousUrdu writer and poetess FarhatParveen who came from USA. Mr. Amjad Ali Sher, the Pakistani Consul General in Dubai, was the chief guest .The Australia-based Ashraf Shad, an award-winning authorand veteran journalist, also attended the event. His wife Dr MrsShad works in Al Ain (UAE).Shad is affectionately called by his Pakistani journalist friends as Bhai Mian.Other honored guests were Zahoor-ul-Islam Javed UAE), Parveen Lasharie England),Tanvir-ul-Islam Khwaja,Abdul Sattar Pardes,Shah Zaman Kausar,Dr. Sarwat Zehra,Sehar Tab Roomani,Musaddaq Lakhani and Hareem Haider.Ayub Khawar was also honored with Urdu Manzil literary award. Urdu Manzil’s literary magazine – Jashn-e-Ayub Khawar,was also presented by Sabiha and Saghier Jafri to all guests.The Pakistani Consul General joined poets and writers to praise the creative work of Ayub Khawar whose three books containing his poems have already been published. Besides being an accomplished poet,Khawar has done a commendable job for Pakistan television networks as producer and director. Amjad Sher also greatly commended Saghier and Saba’s efforts for promoting Urdu literature.
